ZINC DIE CASTING from Föhl
Discover new possibilities
Cars, door and cabinet hinges, fittings for computers and cell phones, water valves and shower nozzles, and so much more. Zinc die casting is an important reason zinc plays such a key role in many areas of our lives. Sometimes you can see and feel it directly, and sometimes it is hidden. Zinc is essential anywhere good stability, an outstanding look and natural feel are needed.
ZINC DIE CASTING VS. ALUMINIUM
Zinc – impressive advantages
- Wall thicknesses from 0.3 mm can be manufactured (with Föhl hot runner technology)
- Tool costs/tool service lives – the service life of a zinc die cast mold is 750,000 – 2,000,000 shots – a factor of 8-10 higher than comparable aluminum tools
- Less tolerances without machine processing
- Higher strength, higher elongation at break, higher hardness
- good flow behavior – very complex, thin-wall contours can be reliably implemented
- Shorter cycle times
- higher density in comparison to aluminum
- less temperature resistance
ZINC DIE CASTING impresses with
cost-efficiency and environmental compatibility
ZINC DIE CASTING impresses with
cost-efficiency and environmental compatibility
Zinc has a low melting point, very high structural strength and the potential to resist corrosion. Components can be extremely thin-walled, detailed and produced with precise dimensions, and stand out for their outstanding surface quality and coating capabilities. In addition, manufacturing on hot chamber die casting machines is very environmentally friendly, and zinc die cast parts are 100 percent recyclable.
Zinc die cast products can save material, energy and process costs.
Impressive advantages:
- Zinc die cast parts can be cast ready to install, cold formed and require little reworking
- Low melting temperatures and short melting times and flow paths reduce energy requirements
- Very good strength allows the production of thin-walled, very strong yet lightweight components
- Detailed contours can be produced with less tolerances
- Zinc components have outstanding surface qualities and an excellent feel
- No environmental impact from gases and vapors, either during melting or processing
- 100% recyclable
- Thanks to their excellent electrical conductivity, zinc die cast parts have specialized shielding properties
- Good thermal conductivity
- Very well suited for cold forming, such as riveting, crimping, and reeling
INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES
FOR PERFECT RESULTS
We use modern technologies and unique production processes to achieve perfect results, for individual and innovative customer solutions.
FÖHLAN TECHNOLOGY
FÖHLAN is a newly developed, green and innovative technology to protect zinc die cast parts against wear and corrosion. Casting and subsequent coating reduce throughput times, freight costs and damage in transit.
HOT RUNNER -TECHNOLOGY
With new hot runner technology, zinc die cast parts can be cast without a gating system. Eliminating the gating process results in less air in the cast part. This reduces the porosity of the component.
HYBRID-TECHNOLOGY
Hybrid technologies combine the advantageous material properties of zinc and plastic. They stand out for their assembly, cost and functional benefits.
PROTOTYPES
WITH RAPID PROTOTYPING
Do you need functional prototypes or prototypes with complex geometries, simplified display models or design samples for your planned products or components? Do you want to try out a new design before manufacturing tools and starting up an expensive large scale production?
We manufacture your prototypes using rapid prototyping, to help you shorten your time to market and development costs. We would be happy to advise you.
