Föhl China received the ”Autoliv’s Best VEVA Award” back in 2021, but the award was not given out until 2022 due to the pandemic. The prize is being given for a design optimization to a profile head as a component of a safety belt. Not only the product design was improved however; its weight was also reduced, resulting in a theoretical savings of up to 1.5 million USD for just this part number alone over the project life cycle. The new design can be applied to similar parts, which will generate additional savings.
